Dolphins are one of the underwater Mammals in ATLAS that can be encountered while sailing, swimming, and diving. =Basic Information= ==Behavior== Will randomly spawn while sailing alongside your ship and can be seen leaping into the air, or while diving for treasure or flotsam crates. ==Appearance== ==Drops== *Animal Meat, Leather ==Stats== =Domestication= ==Taming== *Requires the Underwater Taming Skill from the Beastmastery Skill tree. *Can ride without saddle. Dolphins can be tamed passively by hand-feeding them meat. In particular, they enjoy fresh Squid Tentacles, Prime Fish Meat, Fish Meat and Crustacean Meat. By grabbing hold of their dorsal fin, pathfinders can ride them as they speed and jump through the ocean. Prime Fish Meat seems to be one of the best foods for taming, be careful not to use your dried Squid Tentacles for taming as they are very bad. Recommended taming method: Using a diving suit as sharks will not attack you. You are quite slow in a diving suit however so as an alternative I've found swimming naked with a seagull on your shoulder is best as long as you have the swimming skills, be careful to carry a spear gun so you can deal with anything that aggros you while you are taming, with a seagull you can swim backwards and generally out run a shark while you are reloading your speargun. An easy way to locate dolphins is simply to use a sextant to locate an underwater treasure that is not near any ships of the damned and simply jump down but do not grab the treasure. When you swim to the surface this should trigger shark/dolphin spawns. Be careful to either have a submarine on your boat for the dolphin to follow home (do not make dolphin follow you on your ship or your dolphin may die) or alternatively be close enough to your main base that you can simply swim home. Generally there are enough underwater treasures that you can easily find a safe one near your base. Furthermore as sharks spawn near underwater treasures you can easily grab some Prime Fish Meat for taming at the same time. ==Breeding== Baby Dolphins need Animal Meat, Prime Animal Meat, or Dried Tentacles. Fish Meat and Prime Fish Meat do not work. ==Utility== Gives 600 seconds buff to intelligence when they leap near you. This dolphin intelligence buff can stack with intelligence buffs. While riding a Dolphin and using the secondary Ability to Jump *Gives dolphin rider and nearby pathfinders the Dolphin Intellect buff *Increases intelligence stat for 10 minutes. While riding the dolphin you can harvest Coral and Seaweed ==Combat== Primary Attack: Bite =Notes= ==Known Issues== Per patch notes v522.3 *Bug Fix: A tamed Dolphin's rider now always receives the Dolphin Intellect buff when jumping. *Bug Fix: Tamed Dolphins are now always able to jump after crossing grids. Per patch notes v521.6 *Bug Fix: Resolved issue where Dolphins would occasionally die when near the surface. *Dolphins can now harvest Coral and Seaweed. Per patch notes v520.12 *Riding a Dolphin at or near the surface will occasionally cause it to die - in testing this was 5 jumps. *Tamed Dolphins may no longer be able to jump after crossing grids. =Gallery= <gallery> </gallery> =Location= Dolphins can be randomly found in the oceans, and can be commonly found in the following regions: *Removed locations until they can be re-confirmed. Nav npcs
