Basic Information[ | ]

Taming[ | ]

The table below lists Foods used for taming and % with Advanced Taming Proficiency
Level: Taming Food: Rate: %
28 Rushes 15 3.5%
Fronds 15

The cow is a passive tame and requires Taming Tier 2; all one has to do is walk up to it and feed it Rushes, Fronds, Vegetables, Fruits, or Berries - in order of preference.

The bull is a bola tame. It prefers Rushes but also eat Fronds, Vegetables, Fruits, or Berries - in order of preference.

After taming both eat plants such as Parsley or Poppy or berries such as Blackberries or Schisandra.

Utility[ | ]

You can milk the cow by equipping a bucket and 'using' it on them. They produce milk continuously every 1 minute and 30 seconds. Currently, it takes them about two hours to have full udders, at which point they give a maximum of 80 milk.

Bulls&Cows can collect berries & fibbers from berry bushes and thatch & wood from trees with their attacks.

Tamed cows can be ridden by equipping a Tier 2 Saddle Tier 2 Saddle

Slain cows will drop a decent amount of raw prime meat, making them a good hunting target!

The Cow's can now pull carts (by equipping the Tier 2 Cargo Saddle and Large Storage Box) with an increased bonus to weight reduction, Carriages and Sleighs.

Breeding[ | ]

You can Breed Cows in the following biomes: Eastern Tropics, Western Temperate, Eastern Temperate, Western Tropics, Eastern Tundra, Western Tundra, Equatorial, High Desert, and Low Desert.

Acceptable temperatures for Cow mating and offspring are between 17c and 34c and the best food is rushes or fronds, as they are lightweight and don't spoil.

Gestation time is 3.0 hours

Combat[ | ]

When ridden: Bull - Left mouse button (PC) to attack; Cow - Right mouse button (PC) to attack

Cows will flee when attacked, making ranged weapons a good choice when taking one on if you can't catch up to it. Bulls fight when they or nearby cows are attacked.

Notes[ | ]

  • On Xbox cows are unable to mate in an equatorial biome. [Tested in Xbox with multiple cows on multiple equatorial islands.]
