Ostriches can be tamed by using vegetables or berries. Chili are the most effective. They must be taken down to 20% health, hit with a 
Bola, and force fed on a timer.
Utility
The ostrich is useful for riding due to its mobility. It moves quickly and can jump far, but cannot carry much weight. Ostriches can also fit through sloped roof doors, making them easy to transport inside ships for protection. When riding you get a 100 Hyperthermal insulation Buff
Combat
The ostrich isn't a good fighter but it's good for escape situations due to his mobility.
