Settlement Overview[edit | edit source]
The world of ATLAS contains four types of zone/server. Freeport, Lawless, Golden Age Ruin and "Open". Each island in an open server is a Settlement which may be claimed by a Company. Each settlement has an associated point requirement and a periodic cost of ownership. Whilst the costs of ownership are paid, all structures placed by the owning company are protected from decay, although they may still take damage from animals and weapons.
Island Points[edit | edit source]
Each Company in ATLAS has a number of Island Points that scales with the number of members. The exact numbers are different on PVE and PVP servers. A company with 36 members on NA-PVE has 115 Island Points.
On the player's inventory atlas, unclaimed settlements show the required points as a number in square brackets, e.g. . See sidebar for illustration.
Companies may claim as many settlements as they have available Island Points. For example, in the sidebar illustration, the sample company has claimed a 57 point and 15 point island. They have used 72 of their 115 island points, leaving 43 points available for further claims.
Upkeep[edit | edit source]
In addition to the required Island Points, settlements require a periodic payment of Gold Coin. The upkeep cost scales with the size of the settlement. Costs are (probably) different on PVE and PVP server.
- A 15 point settlement on NA PVE in K11 costs 76 gold every 12 hours.
- A 57 point island on NA PVE in E10 costs ~369 gold every 12 hours.
Gold coin must be placed in the Claim Flag inventory. If the stored gold runs out, the claim will become contestable and eventually expire.
Claiming and Contesting[edit | edit source]
Historical Page (Obsolete, misleading)[edit | edit source]
f1 is the default key to use the feat to place a claim flag. Place your claim flag on unclaimed island to claim it Placing claim flag costs gold. Be sure to keep enough gold inside flags inventory to keep it. Place inside of someone's claimed land to contest it. It is also possible to claim water to save your territory and stack your claim flags on your company. It increase the time which your claim are contest abl. Place the claim flag when it glows green. If it is red you will contest another claimed area.
The same procedure is with water claiming. It useful to claim water to increase the amount of claiming area and to increase the claim timer. It make it difficult to contest your area too.
See also Piracy with the skill What's Yours Is Mine for claiming ships (Only in PVP) It means that:"The player who activates this performs a feat of supreme piracy, allowing them to greatly accelerate the rate at which ship claim flags count down."

Contesting Claims[edit | edit source]
In order to contest a claim, you must place your claim flag inside their claimed area. Use your feat to place your claim flag with f1. If the company of the claim is nearby then the claim duration will not go down
After 3 days real time you will be able to contest a claim. (See Note)
Should anyone walk into your contested area of effect, your claim will be disputed, while the contested claim will not. This will cause the time required to steal the territory to start increasing at a very rapid rate. The person interrupting your contest claim does not need to be part of the contested company, so random passers-by can accidentally reset the timer back to full in the time it takes to run through.
Even an Unconscious/logged out member may be able to contest if it is unknown if it can still claim over it even if they have been inactive after the 3 days of inactivity.
Removing A Territory Claim[edit | edit source]
To remove your claim from a territory, simply demolish the territory claim flag. This will instantly change the island's status from "claimed" to "unclaimed." Demolishing your flag will create an item cache containing all items that were previously stored in your claim flag. This cache will decay over time. Additionally, if you have constructed a bank, demolishing the flag will render your bank useless unless you were to reclaim the island.
Flag Color[edit | edit source]
|Claim Flag Icon Color||Notes|
|Your claim flags have a green icon||Claim Flags belonging to your allies that do not permit you to build|
|Your claim flags have a blue icon , or purple||They do belong to your allies and allow you to build.|
|Your claim flags have a red icon||Claim Flags which belong to your enemies and do not allow you to build|
|Your claim flags have a yellow icon||They belong to your enemies and enable you to build within them.|
Anyone who has tried to convert a picture in Ark knows the easy way how to get a Claim Flag in ATLAS .
You need a picture with 256x256 Pixels.
The finished picture should be uploaded to a pnt converter or you can save the picture with your Program as a .pnt file.
You can also use the ARKpnt converter.
If you use the converter you need to download and save the file. For example, <Name>_ClaimingFlag_IslandSettlement_C.png
In the game directory "\steamapps\common\ATLAS\ShooterGame\Saved\MyPaintings"
If everything went well, you should choose the painting when you use the brush to paint the flag.

Claim Flags now allow a "Neutral Zone" setting which allows any other tribes to build within them, with the specified tax rate applied to them. You are also able to specify an inclusion or exclusion list to these, to only allow or exclude specific company ID's / player ID's. All claim flags will have this enabled as a default setting when placed, and this will also be a retroactive change. However, it will not function until Wednesday the 9th of January at NOON EST, where we will release another server update to make Neutral Zones active. This means you will have two days, from Monday to Wednesday, to decide and adjust the settings on your claim flag before the change is live.
